what will the new health plan mean??
Well as a health care provider, I don't know what to think. I am scared for the families who need the services I offer, I am scared for my ability to afford to continue to provide top quality services with the changes in healthcare service funding. My services aren't "life saving".. they are perhaps "life enhancing" in most cases. No one wants to lose the ability to say "I love you" to a loved one, or have a child who can't. My colleagues and I keep people from needing greater financial supports to live their lives as independently as they can. But America, we don't know what the new system will look like. I hope and pray that the changes allow necessary services for the people who need it to survive. I hope and pray that medical providers will be able to afford to continue to provide services under the new system. Our system has been getting worse and worse for some time now. It might be rough to acclimate... what do you think?

I for one am thrilled! My son is a former 26 weeker preemie and now because this law has been passed he will never be denied coverage because of his early birth and past health issues.
ReplyDeleteI have a ppo insurance plan that is considered a really good, yet they hardly cover any PT/OT/ST. But yet my insurance rates keep going up and up and the coverage stays the same. I am not getting anymore for my money. I am thrilled that insurance companies will not be able to squeeze more money out of the customer anymore!
Thanks for your comment, Anthony's Mommy! It is definitely good that 'pre-existing conditions' will no longer disqualify someone from coverage! Unfortunately, we have no idea what the new system will allow for, even though "rehabilitation and habilitation" are supposed to be covered. I hope that families won't have to fight so hard for the reasonable services they've been denied in the past. As an employer, I pay A LOT for health insurance premiums for our employees and our rates keep going up and up too...
